The Adam Stansfield Foundation

The Adam Stansfield Foundation

Ian Walford21 Apr 2023 - 07:50

Foundation set up in memory of former Hereford United striker helping young footballers in North Herefordshire

The name Adam Stansfield will be familiar to many football followers in Herefordshire – Adam was a striker who played for Yeovil Town and Exeter City as well as being a key member of the Hereford United team that won promotion back to the Football League in 2006.

In two years at Edgar Street Adam notched 25 goals in 62 appearances, before returning to his Devon roots and joining Exeter City. It was while with Exeter that Adam sadly passed away, from cancer, at the age of just 31.

In his memory, Adam’s widow Marie set up the Adam Stansfield Foundation which seeks to help youngsters play football in the three counties her husband played professionally – Somerset, Herefordshire and Devon – as well as raise awareness of bowel cancer.

In recent months Bromyard FC has set up a girls club and a new Under 7s team. With the donation of equipment and balls, the Adam Stansfield Foundation have played a big part in helping us set those up. We are extremely grateful to the foundation, and especially Andrea and Gig, for their help in doing so.
