Hi everyone, it is with a very heavy heart that we have learnt today that our Club President Edgar Whiteley has passed away after a short illness. Edgar was a very special man. He started junior football in Bromyard many years ago. He ran several teams over the years and was heavily involved in the setting up of Bromyard Town FC. He was passionate about children in Bromyard being given an opportunity to play football. I'm sure he invented the saying "Its not all about winning, its the taking part that counts", this was Edgar's philosophy and he spent his life promoting it. Edgar was always ever present at our tournaments. He was often the first and the last one of us at the ground. Setting up the pitches and picking up the litter in the aftermath. Even when he had both knees replaced it wasn't long before he was back out at Frome walking the field for litter. Just amazing. He was the life and soul of those events and everyone got to know him at the gates of the car park as he made that job his own. When we made him our Club President he was ever so proud. He never expected it but he absolutely appreciated and relished it. All of us involved in the club will miss him dearly and Bromyard certainly wont be the same without him. Our thoughts go out to his wife Betty and his two sons Jonathon and Phillip.
